11U Baseball
Ages 11 & Under
OVERVIEW
This is the first age group where players pitch, scores are recorded, games have umpires, and playoffs happen at the end of the season. Baseball Manitoba has this age group using a continuous batting order, where all players on the team bat in order whether or not they are playing in the field. There is unlimited substitution at all fielding positions. Game length is 6 innings.
SCHEDULE
The baseball season begins in mid to late April, weather permitting. League play consists of one game per week (usually Monday or Tuesday) starting May long weekend. Evening games begin at 6:30 p.m., and typically finish before 8:30 p.m. Coaches usually require their players to arrive earlier for pre-game warm-ups. Games do get rained out, and coaches need to schedule make-up games on different evenings.
PLAYING SEASON
Teams will play in the Carillon Baseball League with other teams from the Southeast. Near the end of the regular season associations may choose to enter a team in provincial playdowns. Teams that qualify for Provincials will be playing into mid July.
TEAM FORMATION
As much as possible teams are divided evenly based on skill levels for league play. The amount of teams Mitchell enters in league depends on registration numbers. Provincial playdowns and tournament rosters will be a combination of all Mitchell 11U teams and be selected by coaches.
